A Small Brass Find with a Huge Surprise Inside

In today’s world of buzzing phones and constant updates, something as quiet and personal as a wish capsule feels almost revolutionary.

It’s a practice of presence. Of reflection. Of dreaming in silence without needing validation.
And that’s why they still matter.
Because wishes don’t belong to the digital world.
They belong to the parts of us that still believe in possibility.

Holding that capsule reminded me of something I hadn’t thought of in years. Inside was a piece of paper, yellowed and fragile. On it, in my awkward ten-year-old handwriting:
“I want to be a writer someday.”

I laughed. Then I cried.
Because here I am—writing about that very capsule.
And suddenly, the circle was complete.

🌱 Keep the Tradition Alive

So why not bring back the tradition?

Here’s how:

  1. Get a brass capsule (you can find them online or even make one yourself).

  2. Write a wish, no matter how big or small.

  3. Seal it. Hide it. Or gift it.

  4. Forget about it—on purpose.

  5. Let time do the rest.

You can use them for:

  • Birthdays

  • New Year’s Eve wishes

  • Wedding vows

  • Baby showers

  • Milestones or memorials

You don’t even need an occasion. Sometimes, the act of writing a wish is enough to start a shift inside you.

💭 Final Thought

We spend so much of our lives chasing the next thing—next notification, next deadline, next goal. But a wish capsule reminds us to pause. To honor our quietest desires. To give our past and future selves something to hold onto.

So go ahead:
Grab a pen.
Write a wish.
Roll it up.
Place it inside a wish capsule.
Tuck it away.

And one day—when you’re not expecting it—you might find it again.
And it might just break your heart open in the best possible way.

Because a wish is still a wish.
That part of us never changes. ✨
