Cut Rice Calories in Half: The Coconut Oil Method

Who would have thought that a simple addition of coconut oil could dramatically reduce the calorie content of rice?

A recent study has revealed a surprising method to slash rice calories by up to 50%. The trick lies in combining two elements: coconut oil and cooling.

How Does It Work?

  • Add Coconut Oil: Incorporate a small amount of coconut oil (approximately 3% of the rice’s weight) into the cooking water.
  • Cool It Down: After cooking, allow the rice to cool completely in the refrigerator for at least 12 hours.

This process significantly increases the amount of resistant starch in the rice. Resistant starch is a type of carbohydrate that our bodies can’t digest, leading to fewer calories being absorbed.
