How To Clean The Entire Oven, Including The Window, With Minimal Effort

If your oven has turned into a smoky, grimy mess — don’t worry, you’re not alone. Grease splatters, baked-on spills, and cloudy glass can make your oven look like a disaster zone. But the good news? You don’t need harsh chemicals, endless scrubbing, or a full afternoon to restore its shine.

This simple guide will show you how to clean your oven (and that foggy window!) with minimal effort using common household ingredients.

🧽 Step 1: Gather What You’ll Need

Before diving in, make sure you have everything on hand. Most of these are probably already in your kitchen:

  • Baking soda

  • White vinegar

  • Dish soap

  • Warm water

  • A spray bottle

  • A sponge or soft cloth

  • A small bowl

  • A plastic scraper or old credit card

  • (Optional) A microfiber cloth and rubber gloves

These natural ingredients work wonders — and best of all, they’re safe, non-toxic, and inexpensive.

🧴 Step 2: Make the Magic Paste

In a small bowl, mix:

  • ½ cup of baking soda

  • A few tablespoons of warm water

Stir until it forms a thick paste — not too runny, not too dry.
This baking soda paste will break down grease and burnt residue without scratching the metal surface.

🧼 Step 3: Apply to the Oven Interior

Remove the oven racks (we’ll clean those later) and spread the paste over the bottom, sides, and door interior.

Avoid the heating elements. You can use a gloved hand or a small brush for corners.
Once everything is coated, close the oven door and let the mixture sit for at least 12 hours — or overnight for the best results.

During this time, baking soda will naturally loosen up tough grease and carbon buildup.
