Lady flips a tire and sprays it bright pink. I’ve never seen a planter idea this fun before

The Unexpected Backyard Makeover That Started With Trash

Old tires usually end up in landfills or forgotten in garages. But when Lisa — a stay-at-home mom with a passion for DIY and a tiny backyard — saw one lying by the side of the road, she had a wild idea.

Instead of tossing it, she hauled it home in her hatchback, pulled out a can of bright pink spray paint, and transformed her dull patio into something straight out of a Pinterest board.

“Everyone thought I was crazy,” she laughs.
“But I just wanted something fun, colorful, and unique… without spending a dime.”

🛠️ Here’s What You’ll Need to Copy Lisa’s Brilliant Pink Tire Planter:

  • 1 old car tire (clean and dry)
  • Bright-colored spray paint (Lisa used neon pink)
  • A sharp utility knife or strong scissors
  • Gloves
  • Potting soil
  • Drainage gravel or small rocks
  • Flowers or herbs of your choice
  • Optional: heavy-duty rope or chain (if you want to hang it)

🌼 Step-by-Step: How Lisa Turned Trash into Treasure

Step 1: Clean the Tire Thoroughly

Old tires are dirty! Scrub off mud and grease using soapy water and let it dry completely in the sun.

Step 2: Cut the Tire (If You Want a Flower Shape)

Cool flower shaped planters made out of old tires will bring a new life to your garden. . Free tutorial with pictures on how to make a vase, pot or planter in 6 steps using paint, pattern, and chalk. How To posted by Jane W. in the Home + DIY section Difficulty: 4/5. Cost: Absolutley free.

Wearing gloves, carefully cut petal-like shapes into the tire’s edge. This is optional — Lisa did it to give hers a flower-like border that looks adorable once painted.

Tip: You can keep the tire whole for a round planter or flip it inside out to get a “blooming flower” effect.

Step 3: Flip the Tire (Optional but Mind-Blowing)

This part shocked us: Lisa turned the tire inside out. It’s tough — you’ll need strength — but once flipped, the tire curves into a flower-petal shape that looks handcrafted.

“It was the hardest part,” Lisa says. “But totally worth it!”

Step 4: Paint It Bright!

Lay down cardboard or newspaper. Then spray the entire tire with your chosen paint color. Lisa picked neon pink for a bold pop, but you can go pastel, gold, or even rainbow.

Let it dry thoroughly — 2 coats are best.

And just when we thought Lisa’s project was finished…

She did something we didn’t expect.
She hung it on her garden wall — and what she added next made it even more genius.

👉 You won’t believe what she used to fill it — or how it turned into a centerpiece.
