Decades ago, we were needed—and we gave everything. Yet the love we received in return was seldom unconditional. What I’ve come to understand is that true love shows up without expectations. It asks nothing, yet gives everything.
I learned that being needed isn’t the same as feeling loved. Being loved means being seen, even when you’re not offering anything in return.
So here I sit in July 2025, a home once filled with noise and now starting to fill with new purpose. I’ve discovered that opening your heart and your door, even when you’ve given up hope, can invite grace in unexpected ways.
A knock on the wrong flat—they came in with a latte’s warmth, a smile’s promise, and a reminder that friendship knows no age.
