What is this? I found it on my wall this morning

Here’s a quick checklist — compiled from zero actual credentials but an unhealthy amount of life experience and Reddit wisdom:

  1. Don’t touch it with bare hands.
You don’t know what it is. It could be harmless. It could be alive. It could be both. Gloves are your friend.
  2. Photograph everything.
Trust me. If it disappears later, no one will believe you unless you have proof. Bonus points if you include a banana for scale.
  3. Inspect the area.
Look for small holes, cracks, or signs of pests. Shine a flashlight above or below the site — maybe something is leaking or expanding behind the wall.
  4. Don’t panic. But don’t ignore it.
Mystery substances in your living space aren’t normal, and while 9/10 it’s nothing, that 1/10 can mess with your health.
  5. Call your landlord or maintenance.
Even if they’re the “wipe and run” type, they have a legal obligation to address material or structural issues — especially if it’s mold or pest-related.
  6. If you’re really concerned — get it tested.
Many local health departments or mold inspection services can test mystery substances for a small fee.
  7. Most importantly — tell the internet.
Why suffer alone when you can confuse thousands of strangers online and potentially go viral?

Final Thoughts

So that was my Tuesday.
It started with coffee and ended with an alien pink mystery being wiped away like spilled ketchup.

Maybe it was just foam.
Maybe it was a warning sign from the walls.
Maybe I need to move.

Either way, next time I see something sprouting from my drywall, I’ll probably make a TikTok before I call my landlord.

Because if we’re going down in mystery goo — we’re going down with content.
