Lady sprays paint through colanders. People cannot stop sharing this New Year idea

As we usher in the New Year, creating vibrant decorations can add a festive touch to your celebrations. One unique DIY project that’s quickly gaining popularity is the creation of ‘firework jars’ using a simple household item—a colander. This project is not only fun and easy to do, but it also results in stunning decorative pieces that resemble colorful fireworks. Perfect for a New Year’s Eve party or a festive dinner, these jars can serve as table centerpieces or cheerful additions to your home decor.
These DIY firework jars can be styled as eye-catching centerpieces on a dining table or placed on a mantelpiece to add a pop of color to your living room. Pair them with fairy lights or candles to enhance their glow, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. For a cohesive look, use colors that complement your existing decor palette or go for a vibrant mix to create a playful and lively setting.
DIY Firework Jars
Materials
Clear glass jars (any size)
Acrylic spray paints in various colors
Metal colander
Protective gloves
Old newspapers or a drop cloth
Masking tape
Directions
Set up your workspace by laying down old newspapers or a drop cloth to protect the surface from paint.
Clean the glass jars thoroughly and remove any labels. Dry them completely.
Use masking tape to cover any areas of the jar that you want to remain paint-free.
Place the jar upside down on the covered surface.
Hold the metal colander over the jar, ensuring it is centered.
Wearing protective gloves, choose your first color of acrylic spray paint and spray over the colander, allowing the paint to create a pattern on the jar beneath.
Repeat the process with different colors, allowing each layer to dry before applying the next for a multi-colored effect.
Once satisfied with the design, remove the masking tape carefully.
Let the jars dry completely before using them as decorations.
Variations & Tips
For a different twist, consider using glow-in-the-dark spray paints to create jars that illuminate in the dark, adding an extra element of surprise for evening gatherings. You can also experiment with metallic paints for a more sophisticated and shimmering finish. If you prefer a subtler look, opt for pastel colors that blend gently together. To enhance the firework effect, consider adding a touch of glitter to the wet paint for extra sparkle. This project is very versatile, allowing you to adjust the colors and styles to fit any theme or occasion.
