Most people toss out old dresser drawers… huge mistake. Add some legs and hardware and this happens

Transforming old dresser drawers into pet beds not only gives new life to furniture but also offers a stylish and comfortable spot for your furry friend. This project is a great way to repurpose materials that might otherwise be discarded, reducing waste and adding a unique touch to your home decor. With just a few additional materials, you can create a cozy and attractive space for your pet.
Place the finished pet bed in a cozy corner of the living room or bedroom, where it can blend seamlessly with your existing decor. Consider choosing legs and hardware that match other furniture pieces for a cohesive look. Neutral tones or complementary colors for the cushion will enhance the aesthetic appeal. Add a small, plush blanket for extra comfort, and position the bed near a window or a warm area for your pet’s enjoyment.
Repurposed Dresser Drawer Pet Bed
Materials
1 old dresser drawer (approximately 24 inches wide by 16 inches deep)
4 wooden legs (6 inches in height)
4 leg mounting plates
Screwdriver
Drill
Paint or wood stain (optional)
Sandpaper (medium grit)
Pet-friendly bed cushion or pillow (to fit drawer dimensions)
Decorative hardware (e.g., drawer pull or knob)
Directions
Remove any existing hardware from the dresser drawer and sand the surface to remove rough edges or old finish.
Paint or stain the drawer to your desired color and allow it to dry completely.
Attach the leg mounting plates to the four corners of the bottom of the drawer using screws and a drill.
Screw the wooden legs into the mounting plates, ensuring they are secure and stable.
Place the pet-friendly cushion or pillow inside the drawer to create a comfortable sitting area.
Add decorative hardware, such as a drawer pull or knob, to the front of the drawer for added style.
Variations & Tips
For a different look, consider using legs of varying styles or heights, such as hairpin legs for a mid-century modern vibe. You can also personalize the paint color or finish to match your home’s color scheme. Adding a nameplate with your pet’s name can give the bed a personalized touch. For larger pets, use a bigger drawer and adjust the size of the cushion accordingly.
